iSculpture Gallery San Gimignano is glad to present its special project of this year: the solo exhibition “Bertellotti at iSculpture Gallery San Gimignano” by Nicola Bertellotti. The italian photographer of abandoned places will be hosted in our venue in San Gimignano, thanks to the collaboration with Sensi Arte Gallery.
We could ask ourselves what induces a gallery which deals exclusively with sculptures to present works that are apparently so far-removed from its usual proposal. The glimpse into the past, the frozen in time, the joy of capturing symbols of a lost time in Nicola’s works bring the same roots of our constant research between tradition and modernity in Contemporary Italian sculpture.
Nicola Bertellotti was born in 1976 in Pietrasanta (Lucca). From his early age his love for travelling led him to approach photography, that became for him a way through which retain the memory of his own experience. After reading “L’usage du monde” by Nicolas Bouvier rises his inner desire to describe to the others everything he meets like a fresco, emphasizing the stark reality of the palces he explores and remaining sometimes hit and undressed by them. He studied History at the University of Pisa, where approached Jonh Ruskin’s philosophy and where the sense of the transience of everything is deeply rooted in his vision of the world. His research is directed towards the aesthetics of decay, bringing him to develop a poetry markerd by the beauty of abandonment, to a “Phenomenology of the end” of forgotten places, brought to light through the photographic lens. This representation of truth springs from a polished look on modern ruins, symbol of a lost time that you aspire to find.
iSculpture Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition “Journey into synthesis”by Wilhelm Heiliger that will be held at the headquarters in San Gimignano (SI). The Catalogue, printed by the Gallery, will be presented during the opening.
iSculpture Gallery is pleased to offer its spaces to Wilhelm’s real yet fantastic works. We could ask ourselves what induces a gallery which deals exclusively with sculptures to present works that are apparently so far-removed from its usual proposal. The answer to this question lies in the desire to emphasise the importance of the relationship between shape and colour, concepts which are an absolute part of sculpture. The gallery also wants to open up to other forms of expression, to which alternative projects will be regularly dedicated in the future, highlighting once again the absolute non-existence of boundaries to beauty and art.
Opening on October the first at 6.00 p.m. with the presence of the artist.

Some days ago we were in Pistoia (Tuscany), visiting The Salvadori Arte foundry. They makes bronze sculptures for the most important Italian and foreign artists as Barni, Mitoraj, Botero. We was there thanks to Giovanni Balderi‘s new works!
Salvadori Arte casts works in bronze using the “cire perdue” or lost wax method, the same technique used through the ages first by the Egyptians, then by the Greeks, Etruscan and Roman. This technique consists in covering with wax, that will be later modelled a refractory clay support; then another clay layer is put on the wax so that is encased between two masses of clay. By heating this clay container to a high heat, the wax melts and drips ut through some purposely made holes. The liquid alloy is then poured into the thin space left by the wax, usually just a few millimetres, then the allow cools and hardens the bronze cast has been accomplished. At last, through oxidation and thermal treatment, the bronze receives the patina.
